COMMISSIONS

A commission gives you a truly unique painting just for you or a very personal gift for your loved ones. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for a commission however it is worth contacting me if you would like something sooner and I will see what I can do depending on the complexity of the painting and your timeline. If you’d like a commission as a gift and you're not sure what pattern and/or colours to choose contact me about purchasing a gift voucher and I would work directly with your recipient.

Commission me to create your birth chart, or as a unique gift for someone you know. Or make your own by coming to a workshop.

If you seek inspiration take a look at my Gallery or Instagram page, or visit me in my studio in central Eastbourne. You may like a particular pattern and want it in a different colour – just let me know and we can discuss your preferences.  The face of Buddha paintings are typically inspired by a photograph.  The Mandalas are usually created intuitively, often by meditating on a word or words, verse and/or colour(s) provided by you.

I have created mandalas for people who like to choose a ‘word of the year’ to guide them through the year instead of a New Year resolution. You may wish to incorporate the word and any supporting words into the mandala. My first ever commission was for the word Nurture and went to Los Angeles.

Please be aware that smaller does not necessarily mean cheaper. The smaller the pattern the harder the accuracy and the longer they may take. This is counter-intuitive and has been a big learning for me with my journey into geometry.

THE PROCESS

I like to arrange a time to speak, in person, by Zoom, Whatsapp or phone, so that we can connect and I can get a good understanding of who you are (if the painting is for you) or the recipient (if the painting is a gift). During this conversation I will ask whether you have any intentions, colours and/or words to inspire the feel of the pattern. If working with acrylics you may want certain words to be included in the underpainting.  We will agree the medium (watercolours or acrylics), size and cost.

During the creation of your painting I will take ‘work in progress’ photos to share with you in order to keep you up to date and to provide an opportunity for you to feedback. I also like to check any intuitive ideas I have with you so that you may verify what I am experiencing. On completion I will email you an album of the ‘work in progress’ photos as a record of the story of your painting. With your permission I may also share work in progress and final piece photos on my website, Facebook and Instagram. All your details will be kept confidential.

PRICE AND SHIPPING

The cost is determined by the size and complexity of the painting. I ask for a non-refundable deposit of fifty percent in advance and the outstanding amount plus packing and shipping costs on completion.

Payment is by bank transfer or Paypal. I am also happy to receive payment by instalments and the painting is shipped once the final instalment has been paid.

Together we will agree arrangements for collection or shipping. Paintings are usually shipped unframed, either in a tube or flat.

This helps to keep costs down due to much less weight and size and gives you the opportunity to personalise your picture by selecting a frame of your own choosing. I have found that frames are as a personal to each of us as is the painting.

I have previously sent paintings to the US, Europe and within the UK. The costs of postage and packing are in addition to the cost of the commission. Unfortunately shipping costs rose during the pandemic and there have been increasing costs to ship to EU countries due to post Brexit taxes. It is wise to check these beforehand so as not to get a shock. If you are in the UK then collection from my studio in Eastbourne may be cheaper than shipping costs.

“One of the good points about online meetings is you sometimes get to see a person’s home. Their interiors can be more interesting than what is being said, at times! During such a meeting I spotted artwork in the background. The vibrant colour of the mandala (and I only know what a mandala is now) kept popping into my head days after the meeting had finished so I contacted Lynn to find out where she had got the artwork. The answer was “I drew it” and the rest followed. I commissioned Lynn to design a mandala for my mother in her favourite colours as I wanted a special present for her. The process of choosing the design and range of colours was smooth and made the present for my mother just that bit more special as thought and care had gone into its creation. However, I liked the original mandala and its colours so much I had to get a print of it as well…. a present for Me!”

“Lynn was a former trusted colleague who I had the pleasure of working with but when she left the business we lost touch for a while. I suffered a huge personal loss in 2014 when my husband passed away unexpectedly and Lynn and I re-connected.

He was very spiritual and loved “buddha” images so I asked her to paint one for me as a reminder of him. His favourite colour was red and I gave her no real idea of what I was looking for but she created this wonderful piece of art for me which now hangs over my bed. Each night I feel that he is watching over me and it gives me great comfort and a sense of peace. I have also purchased a mandala print from her which I am very pleased with.

I think Lynn’s life experiences and background give her a great authenticity and deepness which comes through in her artwork. She is always on new discoveries and open to various forms of creativity and learning new styles of art. She is very brave… I love my buddha and he will be with me forever.”
